Answers, before you ask
What is ISP billing?
ISP billing is the process of invoicing subscribers for their internet service and collecting payment. Modern ISP billing systems also handle plan changes, prorations, auto-suspension, reactivation and reconciliation with the RADIUS/router side so a paid subscriber is instantly back online.
How is ISP billing different from generic SaaS billing?
ISP billing has to talk to the network. When an invoice is paid, the subscriber's PPPoE / hotspot profile must reactivate within seconds. When they miss a payment, the router has to enforce it. BillFi ties billing directly to RADIUS + router APIs so this happens automatically.
Which payment methods does BillFi support?
Cards (Stripe, Flutterwave, Paystack, SSLCommerz), mobile money (M-Pesa, MTN MoMo, Airtel Money, Tigo, Orange), Bangladesh rails (bKash, Nagad, Rocket) and offline cash/POS. Every rail auto-reconciles to the invoice and reactivates the subscriber.
Can BillFi handle multi-currency and VAT?
Yes — every operator, plan and invoice carries a currency. VAT / GST / withholding rules are configurable per country, and invoices meet local tax-authority format (URA, KRA, NBR, SARS, etc.).
Do you support prepaid vouchers?
Yes. Batch-generate scratch cards or PINs, distribute to agents, and let subscribers top-up over USSD, the client app or the captive portal.
How does BillFi handle prorated plan upgrades and downgrades?
Mid-cycle changes are prorated to the day — BillFi credits the unused portion of the old plan, charges the prorated new plan and sends a single adjustment invoice. The RADIUS profile updates over CoA so bandwidth changes without a session drop.
Can I offer discounts, promos and loyalty credits?
Yes — percentage or fixed-amount discounts, first-month-free promos, referral credits and wallet balances. Every credit posts to the ledger so accounting stays clean.
How does auto-suspension and reactivation work?
When an invoice hits its grace date, BillFi flips the RADIUS reply attributes so the next re-auth walls the subscriber into a payment portal. When they pay by any rail, reactivation happens in under 3 seconds via RADIUS CoA — no manual intervention.
Do subscribers get a self-service portal and mobile app?
Yes — branded web portal and iOS/Android app. Subscribers view invoices, pay, top up prepaid, change plan, open tickets and see live usage without contacting support.
Can I export data for my accountant?
Yes — one-click exports for QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho Books and CSV. Every payment, refund, credit note and VAT line is on the export.
