Answers, before you ask
What does BTRC compliance mean for an ISP?
BTRC's licence conditions require every ISP to maintain identifiable subscriber records (NID KYC), NAT logs correlating public IPs to subscribers at any point in time, periodic subscriber-count reporting (DIS), and NBR VAT-formatted invoicing. Missing any of these can put the licence at risk.
Does BillFi include a NAT log server?
Yes — a bundled log server captures the 5-tuple (source IP, source port, destination IP, destination port, protocol) plus subscriber ID and timestamp for every NAT translation. Retention is configurable per BTRC / regulator guideline.
Can I export BTRC DIS and subscriber reports directly?
Yes — one-click exports for BTRC DIS (subscriber count by area / package), NBR VAT summaries, and NID-verified subscriber lists. Format matches current regulator templates.
Does BillFi capture NID at signup?
Yes — the signup / onboarding form (admin and client portal) captures NID number, front / back image and an optional selfie. Data is stored encrypted and available for regulator requests.
How long are NAT logs retained?
Configurable — default is 6 months as per current BTRC guideline, but you can extend to 12 or 24 months. Storage grows with subscriber count; enterprise plans include unlimited retention.
Can I answer a BTRC or law-enforcement lawful-intercept request from BillFi?
Yes — search NAT logs by public IP + timestamp and BillFi returns the exact subscriber (with NID + contact details) that held the translation at that moment. Reports export as signed PDF for submission.
Does BillFi handle NBR VAT invoicing correctly?
Yes — invoices carry your BIN, VAT amount, base amount and Mushak reference in the format NBR expects. Monthly VAT summary exports match the online VAT-return format.
Is NAT logging separate from RADIUS accounting?
Yes. RADIUS accounting tells you which subscriber was online when; NAT logs tell you which public IP + port they were using at that moment. BillFi correlates both so lookups are one query, not two.
Can I run the NAT log server on-premise for data-locality?
Yes — Enterprise plans can self-host the NAT log server inside your own DC, with BillFi's control plane driving it. Meets data-locality requirements while keeping the operational simplicity.
How does BillFi handle CGNAT logging at scale?
The NAT log server ingests NetFlow v9 / IPFIX from BNG / CGNAT boxes (MikroTik, Cisco, Huawei, ZTE) and compresses aggressively — typically under 5 GB per 1,000 subscribers per month.
